Goedemorgen, Amsterdam: On tour with the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland
In July 2018, The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, now in its 48th year, spent four days on tour to the city of Amsterdam. Former orchestra member, Laoise O’Brien, travelled along with the orchestra and their conductor, Tung-Chieh Chuang, and spent time chatting with the young musicians, capturing their experiences of touring this beautiful and historic city. The feature includes performances at the NedPhO-Koepel, the Westerkerk, and the once-in-a-lifetime experience of playing on the stage of the world-famous Concertgebouw. In addition to the music-making, the young people enjoyed many sights and sounds of the Netherlands including windmills, canal tours, a trip to the Rijksmuseum, and sampling some traditional Dutch pancakes.
