As part of its coverage of The Ploughing Championship 2018, RTÉ is once again airing a half-hour live show on each of the event’s three nights, Tuesday 18th, Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th September.
Ploughing Live will be presented again by the ever-popular team of Aine Lawlor and Marty Morrissey, with additional input from Farming Monthly’s ‘King of Bling’ Noel Dunne. All three have been busy filming reports for the show, on subjects as diverse as the phenomenal popularity of Social Dancing; the working life of contract harvesters; and high-tech solutions to problems caused by this year’s extreme weather events.
Last year, lots of famous faces took part in ‘The Plough and the Stars’, a celebrity ploughing challenge. This year they’ll be invited to try their hand at Tractor Balancing, where they’ll have to drive a tractor onto an oversized see-saw and hold it steady, without tipping, for three seconds.
Etihad Airways is sponsoring the Ploughing’s Best Dressed competition with the winners will be announced live on air, by Celia Holman Lee.
Ploughing visitors will get the chance to get their name on Marty’s dancecard, with dancing to live singer ending the show every night. So if you’re going to the Ploughing this year, wear your wellies, but bring your dancing shoes!
