Episode 2 – Beneath the Surface
The police find evidence that Lee Walsh was heading in the direction of Braeston the evening of the murders. As Juliet and Andrew head to thefarm, the Elliot and Douglas families must swiftly decide what to do with Lee’s body. No one knows who murdered Lee, but the finger of suspicion is pointing at Jamie and Rob. Jamie was seen going into the barn that night, but it was Rob who cancelled the ambulance rather than calling the police. Bill argues that Lee’s murder is a form of justice. No one should have to go down for it, whoever it was. They decide to cover up the crime by burying the car and the body in Bill’s field, much to Claire’s horror.
Juliet and Andrew dig further into Lee’s motive for killing Grace and Adam, uncovering a connection between Lee and Grace that may explain why he killed her. Adam’s father Peter finally gets in touch with Claire– he’d been lying to his new wife about his existing family, but his lies have come tumbling down and it now seems Peter might know more about Adam than he is letting on.
The consequences of Juliet’s drug deal come home to roost when a young friend of Maddie’s dies after taking one of the acid tabs that Juliet sold to Jay. Meanwhile Rob and Anna head back to Edinburgh and Claire is back at work. But just as things seem to be returning to normal, Louise makes a shocking discovery. A bloodied knife in Rob’s bedroom. Could he be the killer? Juliet is increasingly suspicious of the families as their lies begin to come to light. Alastair is using his knowledge of Jamie’s potential guilt to blackmail his friend Bill. Can they hold their ground and keep the enormous secret that is threatening to tear them all apart?
