Jean-Christophe Spinosi conducts the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and Chorus in a production of Bizet’s Carmen concerning the love and jealousy of Don José, who is lured away from his duty as a soldier and his beloved Micaëla by the gypsy factory-girl Carmen. Margarita Gritskova sings the title role with Piotr Beczala as Don Jose in this recent production from Vienna.
