John Fulljames, the Royal Opera’s former Associate Director of Opera, directs a new production of The Return of Ulysses in a collaboration between The Royal Opera and the Roundhouse in Camden, North London. One of only three surviving operas by Monteverdi, the score is full of pathos and drama, and is considered to be an early masterpiece of Baroque opera. Roderick Williams stars in the role of Ulysses, King of Ithaca, and Caitlin Hulcup as his wife Penelope and the production is conducted by Baroque music specialist Christian Curnyn.
