Don’t Tell the Bride

This weeks episode of Don’t Tell The Bride has conjured up all sorts of wedding day worries with Harry Potter fan Brendán O’Regan attempting to create a magical movie-themed day for his beau Victor Garcia.  The only problem?  Victor hasn’t even seen Harry Potter!  Like chalk and cheese, Brendán and Victor are complete opposites in many ways. Victor is extremely fussy and loves people fussing over him. He organises everything right down to the little details.  It’s his way or the highway. Brendán sees the wedding as a chance to prove himself and not to be told how to do it!  With dragons, cauldrons, Ollie the Owl and broomsticks thrown in to the mix, will Brendán pull off a magical day to impress Victor or will it all end up in a muddle?  Find out now on RTÉ Player.

Other Voices

21 year old Norwegian singer Sigrid performing in St James Church for eir Other Voices 2017

In December 2017, eir Other Voices burst into life with over 8,000 people travelling to Dingle, County Kerry, for a three day celebration of the best Irish and international music. This month, Other Voices, Ireland’s longest running music TV series, returns to RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player, with the most dynamic, exciting performances and interviews captured that weekend. The sixteenth series also includes performances from Other Voices Berlin, Belfast and Electric Picnic. The first episode of the new series features pure pop brilliance as Sigrid performs ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ and ‘Strangers’ on Irish soil for the first time. Sigrid’s vital, energetic and warm stage presence is exceptional and this is a performance not to be missed.  Having previously performed at Other Voices with Hozier, Wyvern Lingo step out on their own to perform ‘I Love You Sadie’ and other tracks from their compelling debut album.  From Other Voices Belfast and the beautiful Duncairn Centre, we bring you Picture This, and in the Other Room, Maria Kelly.  Watch Other Voices now on RTÉ Player and for the next nine weeks on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player.

Documentary of the Week

Dolores

There was widespread shock and sadness last month when Dolores O’Riordan, lead singer with Limerick band The Cranberries, passed away suddenly in London.  Always a fascinating interviewee with forthright views, Dolores sat down and talked to Dave Fanning a number of times about success, pressure, overwork, fame, fortune, life and love as she became one of the highest profile female singers in the world of 90s music.  This programme draws together those interviews, as well as some rare archive footage, to offer an incredible insight into her professional and private life.  Watch it now on RTÉ Player.
