Her parents’ marriage faces new challenges as her mother Irene comes into her own and her father, Conrad, emerges as a complex and powerful figure. Ray seizes new opportunities by starting legal studies, but faces personal challenges as he struggles to find a balance between his old life and the new path he’s trying to forge for himself. Meg’s betrayal at the end of series one leaves her in a game of cat and mouse with Tara and facing a moral dilemma as she’s stuck in the middle of two opposing worlds. Vincent wrestles with personal and private demons while heading a public inquiry that threatens to implicate the upper echelons of the Irish political and social elite – the repercussions of which will collide Tara’s personal and professional lives even further.

Episode 2

Vincent desperately needs a break in the inquiry and feels it could come by getting testimony from Deirdre York, Timothy York’s widow. Ray, who has been released from prison and who is now living with Vincent and wants to get on the straight and narrow, jumps into action and secures her as a witness. Vincent is furious with Tara for potentially bringing the integrity of the inquiry into disrepute over her knowledge and connection to Meg’s involvement in the burning of the shed.  Meg and Tara clash spectacularly when Meg discovers someone has been investigating her. Sam, Eric’s charming younger brother, arrives on the scene and takes Tara out for a night on the town to celebrate his birthday. In Tara’s legal case of the week she takes on a father who wants to launch proceedings to gain full custody of his child from his ex, who is living in commune.
