Joe Jackson Tapes Revisited: Joe Dolan

Joe Dolan Image Name: Joe Dolan
Joe Jackson says in the opening of this programme, which will be broadcast ten years since Dolan’s death, “most fans would love to sit down and have a chat or a pint with their hero. If your hero is Joe Dolan now you can do so, by proxy, with me!” Jackson is referring in particular to the second of two interviews he did with Dolan – the first was for the RTÉ Radio 1 series Under The Influence, which he also revisits for this show — and which took place in “the snug of a bar in Dublin’s Clarence Hotel.” In the latter interview, conducted in 2002, Dolan discusses his fame, unsuitability for marriage, and admits that he was emotionally immature and glad to be so! The show includes Dolan’s greatest hits such as Make Me an Island and Danny Boy.
