You Should Really See A Doctor – Series 3

Dr Pixie McKenna and Dr Phil Kiernan are back with their pop up clinic to events across the country for the third series of their RTÉ One Medical Series You Should Really See A Doctor.

Pixie and Phil meet the invisibly sick, the obviously sick, and the people who think they’re sicker than they really are.

As well as the usual lumps, bumps and fungal toe infections – in this series the doctors try to find a diagnosis for a man with mysterious but persistent mouth ulcers; a woman with severe pelvic girdle pain; a farmer with a strange burning sensation in his feet; a lecturer with chronic earache and a woman with scarring from chicken pox.

The doctors also find time to give breast check lessons to the attendees of the Blue Jean Country Queen Festival; testicular cancer checks to the boy racers at a Classic Car Show in Limerick: give urine tests to check dehydration to a gnarly gang of vikings at the Waterford Country Fair and give sound advice to music loving teenagers at the Irish Maritime Fesitval in Drogheda.

And in a new addition to each episode the doctors will explore different areas of consumer health – from cutting edge research around gut health and its relationship to mental health; different treatments for the menopause; and the danger of buying prescription drugs online.

Locations visited during the series include:
The Irish Maritime Festival in Drogheda
The Waterford Country Fair in Curraghmore House Portlaw
The Limerick Classic Car Show in Limericks racecouse Patrickswell
The Blue Jean Country Queen Festival in Athboy

Programme 2:

In the second episode of the third series of You Should Really See A Doctor,  Dr. Pixie McKenna and Dr. Phil Kieran travel around the country in their pop up clinic meeting patients with all sorts of health worries.

At the Irish Maritime festival in Drogheda, Phil meets 68 year old farmer Jim McArdle, who has come to the clinic about the burning sensation in his feet. Jim has been living with this pain for the past four years. Although currently on pain killers will Phil be able to give Jim any relief?

Down in Limerick at the classic car show, the doctors are out and about meeting with the car enthusiasts to see how in tune they are with their health. Phil spots 47 year old father of four Gabriel Vaughan from Spanish Point, who has a worrying sun mark on his face. Further investigation reveals some concerns.

At the Blue Jean Country Queen festival in Athboy, Pixie gives patient Sandra McDonnell advice on the different stages of the menopause.

And Pixie reports on the dangers of online purchases of prescription drugs.
