On Tastes Like Home Catherine Fulvio travels from Roosky, Co Roscommon to Vancouver, Canada and visits the home of orphaned Grizzly bears Grinder and Coola in Grouse Mountain. At Granville Island market Catherine tastes “Nanaimo bars” a Canadian dessert, a variety of Asian fruits, some NYC style pickles as well as food and beer pairings at the Granville Island Brewery. We travel around the harbour area on the Aqua bus services and learn all about Sushi. Our contributors this week are Mary McGowan and her daughter Lisa McGowan. Mary is a sheep farmer in Roosky, Co Roscommon and Lisa now lives in Vancouver with her partner Ian. We’re cooking Roscommon Spring Lamb Cutlets with Apricot Barbecue Glaze, Roast Vegetables with Couscous Salad & Harissa style Dressing, plus Catherine’s Grilled Prawns with Mango and Papaya
Catherine then travels to Vancouver to try and replicate this dish by trying to find the next best thing to Roscommon Spring Lamb Cutlets! And hoping to bring a taste of Roscommon to Lisa’s home.
