What to do when you have text but no music for something you know was sung over 900 years ago? That’s exactly the question that many performers of medieval music must answer. Brice Duisit takes a leap of faith and ends up with some beautiful tunes, which you’ll get to hear as we explore poetry by the earliest of the troubadours: William IX of Aquitaine, Duke of Poitiers, also known as ‘the Troubadour King’ and born this day in 1071. The lush Italian Baroque sounds of Giovanni Rovetta are also on offer this Sunday morning, as are the works of keyboard greats Scarlatti and Couperin. Join Vlad for three hours of the finest sounds that music history has to offer, on Vox Nostra.
