Step back nearly a thousand years to discover music around the time of the Battle of Hastings, which took place this week in 1066. Music from the Norman and Saxon kings, and from everywhere in the European and Mediterranean lands, shows up on this week’s Vox Nostra as Vlad takes a voyage in time to this pivotal moment in history. This week’s Sunday Sonata, however, takes us back to the turn of the 18th century with the music of Jan Dismas Zelenka, from a recent release of the Czech composer’s music by Pasticcio Barocco.
