RTÉ2’s coverage of the Republic of Ireland’s famous win in Cardiff peaks at over one million viewers 

The Republic Of Ireland’s nail-biting win over Wales in yesterday’s final Group D World Cup qualifier in Cardiff drew an average audience of 861,200 to RTÉ2’s live coverage of the game. 51.28% of all those watching TV at the time were tuned-in to  RTÉ2.

The TV audience peaked at over 1.1 million people as the game went into the final minute of injury-time (21.39).

Last night’s game saw the highest volume of live streams for any event this year to date on RTÉ Player. Total live streams reached 123,254 surpassing the previous high of 107,451 set by the All-Ireland Football Final.
