The Good Room

Caroline Foran and Jo Linehan from GAFF Interiors are helping homeowners nationwide transform that one room that needs a little extra attention in brand new series The Good Room exclusive to RTÉ Player in association with Moda created by Dulux.  Dedicated to finding out what inspires each homeowner, Caroline and Jo take them on a journey through colour choice, making small changes and transforming their bad room into their good room.  Following a nationwide call out to find people who have that one room in need of a makeover, Caroline and Jo selected six homeowners in dire need of their expertise.  From an attic bedroom shared by two teenage boys with very different tastes in Kimmage, Dublin to a cluttered sitting cum dining room required for entertaining guests in Ashbourne, Co. Meath the starting point remains the same – choosing the colour palette.  Follow the girls as they transform a cluttered front room in Glanmire, Co. Cork and a bedroom that’s losing in the storage wars in Greystones, Co. Wicklow In Clontarf, Dublin, they enlist the help of the Dulux Visualiser app to preview how the room will look before making some bold decisions on the colour palette. In Sligo they transform a room full of music memorabilia into a functional, contemporary space showcasing the collectibles in all their glory.  Throughout the series, get insider interiors tips as Caroline and Jo take the fear out of decorating your home and share some of their ‘tricks of the trade’.  There are no rules!  It’s about making your space work best for you with a common starting point – colour.  Learn how to choose the colour palette that works for a room with the help of Moda. Be inspired with advice on repurposing old furniture pieces and prints to bring them back to life in The Good Room on RTÉ Player.

Frock Finders

Brand new series, Frock Finders, goes behind the scenes of boutiques all over Ireland capturing the challenges in buying and selling the perfect dress for pivotal moments in our lives.  From cutting edge couture to mother of the bride rig-outs, weddings to wakes, performances to beauty pageants, each boutique has a very different take on ‘style’ and very different customers. Frock Finders captures the story behind each purchase, from the retailers bending over backwards to sell the perfect outfit, through to the special occasion where the dress gets its first outing.  In episode one, comedian and actress Katherine Lynch searches for a selection of glamorous dresses for a Cote D’Azur photo-shoot, Newcastle West retailers kit out two fashionistas for Ladies Day at the Killarney races and designers Charlotte and Jane create a bespoke suit for a top barrister in their Kinsale studio.  The series combines personal stories, makeover and reality as we follow people from all walks of life searching for that perfect dress against the back drop of what it takes to run a successful boutique in Ireland today.  In other episodes Amy Lynch, the first young woman with Down Syndrome to compete in the Kerry Rose selection process, searches for a dress for her stage debut, Soprano and composer Siobhra Quinlan chooses couture for a performance in the National Gallery of Ireland, Kinsale based designers Charlotte and Jane create a bespoke wedding dress and boutique owner Danny Leane styles Country and Western singer Noreen Ashe for a video shoot.  Watch Frock Finders on RTÉ Player.

Mammon

 

The second series of Norwegian detective TV series, Mammon premiered on RTÉ2 on Friday.  If you’re feeling a little out of the loop, RTÉ Player is hosting the entire first series boxset for a complete binge-fest!  Watch series one and then catch up with Mammon II on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player.  In the first series of Mammon a newspaper journalist revealing fraud in a large multinational company, finds his family involved, ruining his career, family relations and entangles him in a following mystery.  Watch all episodes from series one now on RTÉ Player.  Mammon II is a human, suspenseful thriller-drama about politics, power and the media, and how power affects both the ambitious and the innocent.  Watch as a clear cut attack on the freedom of speech is committed, fuelling the flames of an already volatile conflict between the country’s prime minister and his minister of finance.  Available now on RTÉ Player.
