Ireland’s Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017 campaign off to a winning start across RTÉ

Last night’s Ireland v Australia Women’s Rugby World Cup Pool C encounter drew an average audience of 191,300 to RTÉ2 and a share of 17.45% of the available audience.

The RTÉ2 audience peaked at 322,300 at the end of the game (8.38pm) as Ireland ground out a vital first ever WRWC win over Australia by 19 points to 17.

Last night’s game was among the top five programmes streamed on RTÉ Player yesterday with 6,200 live streams. There have also been 2,000 streams of Women’s Rugby World Cup Extras on RTÉ Player to date.

RTÉ 2FM also had live commentary last night courtesy of Michael Corcoran and Grace Davitt while fans could also follow the live match-tracker on RTÉ.ie/Sport alongside analysis and reaction from the Ireland camp.  

Next up for Ireland live on RTÉ2, RTÉ Player and RTÉ 2FM is the game against Japan on Sunday (KO 5.15pm) followed by the final pool game versus France next Thursday (17 August, KO 7.45pm) also live on RTÉ2, RTÉ Player and RTÉ 2FM.
