VOX NOSTRA WITH VLAD SMISHKEWYCH

Suite music for a Sunday morning! The anniversaries of two important French Baroque composers this week – harpsichordist Jacques Duphly and royal flutist Jacques Hotteterre – make the Sunday Sonata an easy choice this week on Vox.  Hotteterre’s Suite for flute & continuo, Op. 2 No. 4 in E minor, is the centrepiece of the show today, performed by three stars of the historical performance universe: Frans Brüggen on transverse flute, with cellist Anner Bylsma and harpsichordist Bob van Asperen. Spaniard Juan del Encina is also featured today, with his music performed by Jordi Savall’s ensembles Hesperion XXI and La Capela Reial de Catalunya, with selections from their album ‘Salamanca 1496.’
