Monday 19th June, 7.00pm on RTÉ One

Tonight on Nationwide, the programme visits the town of Drogheda in County Louth as they host their 6th Maritime Festival.  The team visit the tall ships docked in the port and hear about the history of this town’s long links to the sea.  The Maritime Festival is a great showcase for food producers and Nationwide chats to local chef and food writer Tara Walker who is passionate about food from the region.  The programme hears about another big part of the festival which is music and meets Colette Farrell who tells us what the music offering is like.   The team also chat to the festival director who talks about how the Maritime Festival has grown and the plans for the future.

 

Wednesday 21st June, 7.00pm on RTÉ One

Nationwide travels to the medieval town of Fethard in County Tipperary for the opening of a brand new visitor centre which celebrates Tipperary’s long equine history.  The new centre known as ‘The Fethard Horse Country Experience’ was opened recently by Andrew Lloyd Webber who has a castle outside the town.  Nationwide also hears about tourism in the area and the hopes for the future of this town which is rich in horse heritage. Presenter Mary Kennedy also takes a walk around the 14th century medieval walls which are some of the most impressive in the country.

 

Friday 23rd June, 7.00pm on RTÉ One

In tonight’s Nationwide, the team attend the Irish Seed Savers Plant Share day at Scariff in Co. Clare.  The programme hears about bushcraft in the woods with Tom Bán and visits the Sea Eagles at Mountshannon. From surf to turf, the team meets the pro-surfer who has started a Community Farm in Lahinch.
