Goodbye House is a heart-warming celebration of a family home and the family that lived in it. The premise centres on a parent who lives in a family home that their adult children have moved out of, and now it’s time to downsize. Rosemarie Woods has lived in her home for 18 years. Her husband passed away 2 years into their living there, and she feels, with her children gone, that its finally time to start a new chapter in her life, so three of her four children search for a new place for her.

The kids haven’t seen each other’s properties until they all sit down together in the family living room to watch the viewings. They all have opinions on which is best, but Rosemarie will get the final say.

There are buckets of sibling rivalry between Church of Ireland minister Tanya, truck driver Clive and engineer Russell, but they all agree on one thing –  it’s time for their mammy Rosemarie to downsize.
Rosemarie came to live in her home in Virginia  in Co. Cavan through a house swap 18 years ago. 2 years later, her husband sadly passed away but her house has remained at the heart of the family ever since.
Rosemarie’s children all love mammy’s house – if she’s not running after the grandchildren, she’ll be doing the ironing – Tanya calls it ‘therapy’.  She likes to keep mammy busy, and will call round every day after work to get her dinner and collect the children.  For truck driver Clive, it’s all about the ‘grub’, while Russell is the golden child who cuts mammy’s grass.
They can’t quite agree what type of house mammy should move to, but they all know she needs a kickstart to take the leap and make a fresh start.
