Episode 5

Designer: Madeleine Dineen (55), Raharney, Westmeath

Occupation: Budding Garden Designer

Madeleine’s fondest childhood memories are gardening and growing vegetables with her mother in their countryside garden. She longed for a similar upbringing for her three children so relocated from Dublin city to a small rural village in Westmeath in 2011. After finding the perfect site, Madeleine oversaw the build of her dream home, aswell as the transformation of her one acre field into a stunning cottage garden. Quickly realising her love for landscaping, she completed a FETAC course in Horticulture and enrolled with the Garden Design Academy of Ireland.  She is in the process of setting up her own garden design company and feels Bloom could be the perfect platform for her new horizons.

Homeowners: Evelyn and Martin Rogers, Clonsilla, Dublin

Occupations: Housewife and customs officer in Dublin Port

Evelyn and Martin have been together for almost thirty years and married for twenty. They have three sons Hayden (17), Michael (14), Emmet (9) who are all sports mad. Hayden plays football for Longford Town FC, Martin plays locally with Corduff FC, while the youngest Emmet plays GAA for St. Peregrines. The last few years have been very challenging for the Rogers family. In 2002, Evelyn’s sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and sadly passed away after a long battle with the disease. While still reeling from the grief of losing her sister, Evelyn was shocked to be diagnosed with breast cancer herself.  Thankfully she has now made a full recovery and the entire family would love to give her the dream garden she has longed for.
