Dan Hegarty – The Alternative: For The Record – Junkster ‘Junkster’ (1997) –
During the mid and late 1990s there was a lot of guitar/electro crossover happening in music. My Bloody Valentine made a lasting statement with their 1991 album ‘Loveless’, and in the years that followed, others like Curve, Garbage, and Sneaker Pimps brought us music of significant note.
Irish band Junkster had toured extensively, and honed a sound that embraced the attitude and technology of the time. Their self-titled album appeared in 1997, and received much applause. Dan features tracks from this all this week on The Alternative, and on Wednesday’s show he chats to their former vocalist Dee O’Neill about the album. Junkster will also appear in part two the Cork Rock documentary, which will be broadcast on 2fm on the June Bank holiday weekend
