Series 8, episode 8

Over the past seven weeks the Dragons have met 28 extraordinary entrepreneurs – the final four businesses in this series are no exception.

First to enter the Den are two festival going friends Nadine O’Regan and Alex Skyes who believe their invention makes perfect fashion sense – but will the Wellie Wet Suit make perfect financial sense for the Dragons and see them invest €45,000 for a 30% share of the company?

Next to face the Dragons is 39-year-old Dublin born Tara-Lee Byrne.  A professional cellist and trained chef, Tara has travelled the world with her music.  Settling in Killaloe, Co Clare first product in the Wicked Wholefoods brand is Gránola.  Available in two varieties including a gluten free option they come in 400g family packs and 35g snack packs – she looking for €135,000 for a 20% of her business.

Waiting to face the Dragons is a self-proclaimed serial entrepreneur Darya Jegorina who’s latest start-up involves a new way for children to interact with their books via augmented reality. Originally from the Ukraine, seeking an investment of €50,000 for 20% share of My Clever Books she believes she’s the perfect business partner – but will the Dragons agree?

Our final entrepreneur into the Den this year is Richard Murphy.  He has developed My Mood and Me, an online workplace wellness programme where large companies can provide a mental wellness service to their employees.  It’s a new idea and a new company, but is it too new for the Dragons to invest €60,000 for a 10% of the company?

This year’s entrepreneurs have proved that young business people will play a vital role in the future strength of the Irish economy.   And for the first time in eight years, the female entrepreneur outnumbered their male colleagues both inside and outside of the Den.
