This week thirty- six countries will compete for a place in the grand final on Saturday May 13th. Who will make it through? (Come on Ireland!)

This year Brendan Murray is flying the flag for Ireland.

Singer and musician Brendan Murray will perform the ballad Dying To Try at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv in Ukraine this May. The ballad was co-written by Swedish song writer Jörgen Elofsson and British song writer James Newman. The song was chosen from over 320 entries by a judging panel of six industry professionals. This year RTÉ selected Brendan Murray as the singer to represent Ireland in Kyiv. From Tuam in Co. Galway Brendan has been a member of the successful boy band Hometown since he was 17.

The two Semi Finals take place on Tuesday May 9th and Thursday May 11th at 8pm on RTÉ2. Ireland take part in the second semi final.

Olexander Skichko, Volodymyr Ostapchuk and Timur Miroshnychenko will be your hosts from Kyiv during the two Semi-Finals and Grand Final.

The Eurovision Song Contest Final takes place on Saturday May 14th (Week 20) and will be broadcast live on RTÉ One.

Live from Kyiv Ukraine, artists and songs from 18 countries will compete for ten places in next Saturday’s final.  In appearance order, they are: Sweden, Georgia, Australia, Albania, Belgium, Montenegro, Finland, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Moldova, Iceland, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Armenia, Slovenia and Latvia.  Viewers in ROI cannot vote tonight.

The presenters in Kyiv are Olexander Skichko, Volodymyr Ostapchuk and Timur Miroshnychenko.  Marty Whelan is in the commentary box.

Live from Kyiv Ukraine, artists and songs from 18 more countries will compete for ten places in next Saturday’s final.  Brendan Murray representing Ireland with “Dying to Try” competes tonight.  Singing in appearance order are: Serbia, Austria, Macedonia, Malta, Romania, Netherlands, Hungary, Denmark, Ireland, San Marino, Croatia, Norway, Switzerland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Estonia and Israel.  Can Ireland make it to the final for the first time since 2013?  All hopes rest on Brendan Murray, who will sing Ireland’s entry “Dying To Try.”  Viewers in ROI can vote for any of the other seventeen songs tonight.
