Monday 27th March, 7.00pm on RTÉ One.

In recent months, the famous Central Bank building on Dame Street designed by architect Sam Stephenson, has been sold and staff have moved to their brand new headquarters on North Wall Quay in Dublin.   On tonight’s programme, presenter Anne Cassin joins staff as they bid farewell to Dame Street and make the move downriver to Dublin’s docklands.

Tonight’s Nationwide is in Galway City, which plays host to the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards, to meet some of the finalists taking part.

Reporter Valerie Waters meets a finalist in the awards in the Millinery category.  This is Davina Lynch’s third time at the awards and Valerie visits her at her studio in Cavan to see the work that goes into making her creations.

On to the fashion design category next and one of this year’s finalists is a young woman who has practically been catapulted onto the fashion scene.  Lynsey McGarrigle has been showcasing internationally, dressing high profile clients and she does it all from a log cabin at the back of her home in Strabane where RTÉ’s North West correspondent  Eileen Magnier goes to see her at work.

Next, Nationwide travels to the North West to meet a young Donegal woman who is a finalist in the accessories section of the Innovation Awards.  Louise Porter has just started out in business, and already her first collection of scarves is attracting attention despite not even having hit the shops yet.

Lynsey de Burca has been a jewellery designer for five years and is one of the four Jewellery Designer of the year finalists.   Reporter Maria Mullarkey visited her at her home and studio in Co. Galway.

Finally, fashion designer Sarah Murphy is a recent graduate of Griffith College in Dublin and Maria Mullarkey goes to see her at work in her studio beside her home in Roundwood, Co. Wicklow.

Next Wednesday 5th April, is the launch of the Tidy Towns Competition, but already cities, towns and villages all over the country are busy preparing their projects and getting their streetscapes and amenities in the best condition they can be.  Ballincollig in County Cork is one of them.  Mary Kennedy goes there to see what work is being done and to visit VMware, a multi national company based in Ballingcollig that supports the local tidy towns, by encouraging their employees to get involved in giving back to the community, both at home and abroad.

Next to Kilkenny, where located in the heart of the beautiful city is the new Medieval Mile Museum where 800 years of Kilkenny’s history is told through stories, monuments and artefacts. Nationwide goes along to find out more.
