–  Dr Lara Dungan investigates the potential of the oceans to solve the looming future energy crisis, told through the stories of the people working at the cutting edge of ocean energy in Ireland. 

While energy efficiency, solar and wind energy all have a part to play in the future of the world’s energy, there is still a big gap to fill.. Large amounts of base load energy will need to come from conventional sources such as coal, gas or nuclear. Or do they? With climate change and energy independence now a national security issue. There is pressure to find alternative indigenous sources of energy. Could Ireland be the first to break through in developing a new form of energy from the oceans? Dr Lara Dungan will investigate the recent breakthroughs and latest technologies in developing energy from the oceans.
