IFA WOMEN
At ground level, there are many thousands of women either running their own enterprises or actively involved in the family farm.
And yet they are totally under represented when it comes to positions of influence with any of the main farming lobbies. For example, of the 53 members of the National Executive of the IFA, only one is a woman.
Helen Carroll met a number of women who feel that the age of male domination over the Irish agriculture sector is coming to an end, as they are ready to take their places. But can this happen without a change in policy and attitude?

ALIEN INVADERS
An infestation of Asian Clams, an aggressive species of shellfish, threatens the delicate ecosystem of the River Shannon and its lakes. A single clam can produce up to seventy thousand offspring in a year ,and these filter feeders can take all the available nutrients from the freshwater fishing grounds, leaving nothing for the fish, or indeed, the fishermen.
Darragh McCullough visits Lanesboro, Co Longford to see how this alien species is impacting on the local coarse fishing amenity, and meets competitors in the World Pike Fishing Championships.

COMMUNITY BOOKSHOP
How do the main streets of towns and villages rejuvenate themselves after so many years of neglect and abandonment? It’s a key question for rural Ireland.
Ella McSweeney found one answer in Louisburgh in Co Mayo, where the country’s first community run bookshop is breathing life back into this town.
