Daniel O’Donnell, Angela Scanlon and John Bishop join The Late Late Show Line-Up

On The Late Late Show this week:

After taking a well-earned 18-month break from touring, Daniel O’Donnell is back where he belongs, performing in front of adoring crowds across the country. We’ll be hearing about how he got over his nerves as he prepared to take to the stage again, filming his RTÉ Christmas special and travelling around Ireland with wife Majella again for another series of their B&B Road trip.

TV presenter Angela Scanlon spent the autumn marshalling the Robot Wars and now she’s getting ready to go nightly on the BBC’s The One Show. She’ll be sharing the secret of her UK success.

As gangland warfare continues to leave parts of Dublin in a state of fear, crime correspondent Paul Williams will trace the current feud right back to its origin – the line that was crossed when journalist Veronica Guerin was brutally gunned down in broad daylight. He’ll be telling us why things have gotten much worse in the 20 years since Veronica Guerin’s death shocked the nation.

Comedian John Bishop will join Ryan to chat about how it was Ireland that gave him his first big break in television with appearances on The Panel and The Late Late Show. As he prepares to turn 50, he’ll be telling viewers about life now that his kids have flown the nest. And we’ll be hearing about the excruciating moment when his hero Paul McCartney mistook him for another famous comedian.

As the Marie Keating Foundation launches a new exhibition aimed at raising awareness of prostate cancer among Irish men, we’ll be hearing  from three who have survived the disease  – rugby player Tony Ward, GAA manager Sean Boylan and newsreader Michael Murphy. They’ll be sharing their personal stories of their, sometimes harrowing, battle against cancer and telling us why men need to get wise about their health and get themselves checked.

Johanne Powell has been caring for her profoundly disabled daughter for 32 years. Last weekend she gave a searingly honest interview in which she admitted that she wants her life back. We’ll be hearing why she feels she is at the end of her tether; how her decision to speak up is born out of deep frustration; and what needs to happen for herself and husband Alan to get their lives back while daughter Siobhan gets the care that she needs.
