In this new documentary series, we meet a different child from around Ireland in each episode as they tell us all about what makes their day.
Series Synopsis
In this new ten-part documentary series we meet different children from all over Ireland as they bring us into their homes, telling us all about their lives and the things they love to do.
Whether it’s sports, dance, baking or just time spent with friends and family we find out what it is that make these boys and girls happy – what makes their day.
Each child has their own story to tell and even though families come in all shapes and sizes and some have tougher challenges to face than others, there’s always time for fun, friends and laughter.
Episode Breakdown 1-5
Episode 1 – Alannah
Logline
Alannah can’t see like everyone else. Unless things are very close to her they just look like shapes and blobs. But she doesn’t let that stop her having fun doing the things she loves.
Alannah lives with her Mammy, Daddy and her younger brother Callum. She can’t see like everyone else. Unless things are very close to her they just look like shapes and blobs. But she doesn’t let that stop her having fun doing the things she loves; singing, dancing and going to the playground with her best friend Abby.
Episode 2 – Callum
Logline
Callum is the eldest of the three children and is a big help to his Mum and Dad in looking after his brother Richard who has special needs.
Synopsis
Callum lives with his Mum, Dad, sister Anna and brother Richard. Callum is the eldest and is a big help to his Mum and Dad in looking after his brother Richard who has special needs. Callum, and his sister Anna, make sure that Richard is able to join in and have fun with them whenever they can and they all love going horse-riding and swimming together as well as playing on the trampoline in the back garden. Callum loves when he gets the chance to practice his hurling skills with his Dad too.
Episode 3 – Kiara
Logline
While everyone else is asleep, Kiara is up at 5:30am four times a week for swim training. She has the Olympics in her sights!
Synopsis
Kiara lives with her mum Sarah. Her dad came from Bolivia and, although he died a few years ago, Kiara loves skyping with her family and relations in Bolivia as often as she can. Kiara is a super swimmer. While everybody else is still fast asleep in their beds, she is up at 5:30am four times every week for swim training before school. She has the Olympics in her sights! Kiara loves spending time with her grandparents too and the new puppy she shares with them, Timmy.
Episode 4 – Seán Proinsias
Logline
Seán Proinsias lives on Inis Mór, one of the Aran Islands and loves spending time outside exploring the island.
Synopsis
Seán Proinsias is one of five children in a family that gets to live in a very special place – They live on a small island off the coast of Ireland called Inis Mór. He loves exploring the island with his brothers building secret bases and hideouts. Sean Prionsias helps his mum to grow and gather the food they eat. He often helps his mum or dad to prepare dinner for the whole family. He spends a lot of time with his brothers and sisters – they all play music together.
Episode 5 – Nina
Logline
Nina moved to Ireland from Croatia three years ago with her family and has made lots of new friends here.
Synopsis
Nina lives beside the sea in Dublin with her family. She used to live in an apartment in a city in Croatia so she loves being so near the seaside now and getting to breath the fresh air. Ireland is pretty different to Croatia but she really likes living here – going for walks on the beach as well as her Irish dancing classes. She also loves to bake traditional Croatian cookies with her Mum and little brother Filip that remind of her of home.
Episode 6 – Johnny Boy
Logline
Johnny Boy is a settled traveller who loves boxing, make-and-do with his Mum and anything to do with sharks!
Synopsis
Johnny Boy is a settled traveller who lives with his family in an apartment. Lots of his family live in mobile homes and he loves visiting his cousins on the traveller site where they live nearby to play. He trains at boxing three times a week and loves reading all about fish especially anything to do with sharks! One of his other favourite things to do is make-and-do with his Mammy – sometimes they make rockets and have their very own space launch.
Episode 7 – Anna
Logline
Anna lives on a farm with her three younger brothers and sisters who are triplets. Two of the triplets are deaf so Anna is a big help to her Mum in putting their hearing aids on to help them hear.
Synopsis
Anna lives on a farm with her sisters and brother. They’re 3 year old triplets; Sarah, Kate, and John. Sarah and Kate are deaf so they need to wear special hearing aids to help them hear. Anna really likes helping her Dad on the farm feeding and milking the cows. She also loves going to football training with her friends and walks in the forest with the whole family and their big dog, Shadow.
Episode 8 – Cúán
Logline
Cúán lives with his two mums Kathleen and Karen. He’s really interested in history and loves playing with his friends and his lego.
Synopsis
Cúán loves lego, playing with his friends and he’s really interested in history especially 1916. He lives with his Mum, Kathleen, and his Mum, Karen, in a cul-de-sac where he’s able to play lots of fun games with the other children on his street. They have great fun playing tip-the-can and football. Cúán also loves looking after the chickens in his back garden and playing card games with his Mums and their friends.
Episode 9 – Seosamh

Seosamh moved to Ireland from Taiwan just over a year ago with his family and even though Ireland is very different, he likes it a lot
Synopsis
Seosamh moved to Ireland from Taiwan just over a year ago with his Mum, Dad and little sister Saoirse. Ireland is very different but he likes living here and has made lots of new friends especially at his weekly Taekwando class. Seosamh still loves to eat and drink traditional Taiwanese foods and loves when he gets to celebrate days like the Moon Festival where he can have bubble tea, moon cakes and make traditional Taiwanese art sculptures out of special dough.
Episode 10 – Hazel
Logline
Hazel might learn things a little differently but that doesn’t stop her from doing the same things as everyone else and having lots of fun.
Synopsis
Hazel lives with her Mum, Dad, older brother Jack and younger sister Cori. Hazel is an ordinary 8 year old girl with extraordinary qualities. She might learn things a little differently but that doesn’t stop her from doing the same things as everyone else and having lots of fun. Hazel loves school – she goes to the same one as Jack and Cori and she thinks it’s great when she can read out a story for the whole class. Hazel trains every week for the Special Olympics and loves meeting her friends there. Bowling with all her family is one of her most favourite things to do too.
