Banned
In November 1938, Douglas Hyde attended an International soccer game between Ireland and Poland at Dalymount Park. Although Hyde went to the game in his official capacity as President of Ireland, the GAA decided to ban him for attending “foreign games”. This is the story of the various GAA Bans which got some of Ireland most famous personalities and sportsmen into hot water.
