MARTY IN THE MORNING

The grand opera tour continues as Marty in the Morning visits Teatro di San Carlo, Naples – the oldest opera house in the world – for a production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. Built in 1737, Teatro di San Carlo is included by UNESCO as one of the monuments listed in its World Heritage Sites.

At the Teatro di San Carlo Marty Whelan will meet the stars and go behind the scenes at this prestigious opera house – a shrine to Italian Opera.  He’ll discover some of the secrets of Pompeii, the charms of the Sorrento coast and we’ll learn a little about Caruso, one of Naples finest sons.  There’ll be lots of Neapolitan tunes too, and music from Leoncavallo, Rossini and Mozart.  Broadcasting from the RAI studios in Naples he’ll also have a little time to enjoy the scenic Bay of Naples and a few slices of pizza!
