“Gavin James travelled West to Dingle from Stoneybatter three years ago and his glorious voice raised the roof. Since then his voice and charm brought him to the world’s biggest stages and to the top of the charts. He brought it all back home to Dingle for Other Voices to charm us all over again.”

 – Philip King. Founder, Other Voices

Other Voices returns to RTÉ 2 this Saturday 16th of July at 11PM with a special episode on Ireland’s rising star, Gavin James. The hour long special, presented by Annie Mac and Huw Stephens, will include songs from Other Voices Dingle 2015 where Gavin performed material from his debut album Bitter Pill. It will also include archive footage and a new interview with Gavin by Huw Stephens.

The young singer songwriter broke records by being the first musician to sell out headline shows in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre before releasing his debut album. Since Gavin first played Other Voices, he has signed a major record deal with Capitol Records in the US, toured with Sam Smith and released his debut album ‘Bitter Pill’.

About Other Voices:

Other Voices (www.othervoices.ie) started as a one-off music event in a small Dingle church and over the last 14 years the idea has grown. Other Voices is now an established fixture in the musical calendar – a ‘must attend’ event for performers and audiences alike.  Other Voices has led to the creation of an international music TV series and the filming of that series subsequently became a music festival, a tourism event in its own right that celebrates the local on a global scale. While the stellar quality of the music at Other Voices continues to reach ever higher levels, Other Voices is a constantly evolving and innovating force in the world of music events and cultural tourism, constantly exploring and experimenting multi-dimensionally across content programming, event formats and distribution channels.

In 2012/13 Other Voices hosted a tripartite event that linked Dingle to Derry-Londonderry as a headline event in the UK Capital of Culture programme before finishing the tri-cycle in London in a very successful outreach partnership with The Barbican into London’s East End. The event was bi-located in Dingle and Derry~Londonderry again in 2013/14. In July 2015, Other Voices travelled to Suffolk for Latitude Festival. The line up included Ed Sheeran, Nathaniel Rateliff, East India Youth, All Tvvins, Young Fathers, The Unthanks, Jape, Le Galaxie, Booka Brass Band and many more. In September 2015 Other Voices returned to Electric Picnic for a second year in a row with performances from The Staves, Villagers, Glen Hansard, Gavin James and many, many more.
