Series 1, Episode 13.

“I’ve Got Your Back”, a quiz show where you don’t need to know anything – other than how much your friends and family know!

Each week, young contestants (aged 10-12) will be trying to climb up 8 prize levels on the brand new quiz show “I’ve Got Your Back”.

At each level is a prize, and the higher they go, the better the prize on offer.

At each level, the contestant will get a choice of topics. Once a topic is selected, a question will be asked. Straight forward, right? Well, not quite….

Each contestant will have 4 team mates with them, team mates that they cannot see or talk to. They are friends and family members. And the contestant must decide which of the team mates will answer each question.

So knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the team mates is of critical importance.

As the questions are asked, the audience can see Dad praying he won’t be picked to answer a question on ballet. But will the contestant pick his sister, who is looking very sure of himself?

At any stage they can leave with the prize they have, or they can hand it back and play for something better. But if a team mate gets a question wrong, the contestant leaves empty handed.

Each week 2 contestants will try to climb the prize ladder with the help of their friends and families.

In the last show of the series Alanah Donaghy from Finglas, Dublin returns to continue where she left off in the previous show. Alanah had made it half way up the prize ladder before time ran out, and is now hoping to go right the way to the top and walk away with the star prize.

Alanah is 10 years old and goes to Gaelscoil Uí Earcáin in Finglas. Alanah runs an online fashion blog with her friends and also has her own Instagram page, where she posts funny videos of her little brother. Oh yes, the joys of having a little brother!

On her team are:

Her mum Nicola. Nicola is a big fan of The Kardashians and yoga! She also enjoys walking, keeping fit and Facebook. So any questions on celebrities and social media might be right up her street.

Her grandmother, Yvonne. She might be a granny, but Yvonne is a big fan of MMA and has a black belt in Taekwondo. Watch your back Conor McGregor!

Her grandmother’s partner, Chris Creagh. Chris is a service engineer and an avid baker. His favourite dish is apple pie, made from the apples growing in his back garden. Perhaps he could handle any culinary questions that may come up in the quiz?

The final member of her team is her cousin Tammy Donaghy. Tammy is 16 years old and is apparently the brains of the family. So she might be the right person to have on the team!

Also taking on the game is Megan Denieffe from Clondalkin, Dublin. Megan is 11 years old and goes to Scoil Íde Presentation Primary School in Clondalkin. She loves art and thinks she’s good enough to be an artist. A part of her thinks that she’s related to Da Vinci because she is so good at art “and his name sounds like mine”. Well, maybe….

On her team are:

Her mum Denise Delaney. Denise works as a nurse but her true passion is singing. She’s a member of The Line Up Choir and is a big fan of Wet Wet Wet! She has a massive crush on their lead singer Marti Pellow, and every time the band plays in Ireland, she’s in the front row!

Her aunt, Emma Delaney. Emma is a secondary school teacher – so she should be useful on a quiz show! She teaches in Knocklyon and for some reasons the students are very well behaved in her class – might have something to do with her first degree black belt in Kung Fu!

Her cousin Jack Denieffe. Jack is 12 years old and is football mad. Any questions about football, especially Man. Utd. are tailor made for him. He plays for Blessington Utd at right back.

Her cousin Shane Denieffe. Shane is 10 years old and is a bit of a messer according to Megan. However, he is strong at maths, geography and history, so messing aside, he could be a useful member of the team!

Can either team make it to the top of the prize ladder?

“I’ve Got Your Back”, Friday, 01st July at 12pm & 5pm on RTÉ 2.
