RTÉ Brexit Referendum Coverage
RTÉ will provide in-depth analysis and coverage of the results of the UK Brexit Referendum on television, radio, online and mobile on Thursday 23 June, and across Friday 24 June as the count continues. RTÉ News Now will provide rolling coverage, available worldwide throughout the days with live breaking results in addition to programming and news bulletins.
RTÉ.ie/News will provide up-to-the-minute coverage throughout the night on the RTÉ News Now app and all RTÉ digital and mobile services. This will include a live tracker as well as comprehensive results coverage of the final declaration and the full analysis of the implications for Ireland, north and south, as well as the wider global perspective provided by our team of correspondents.
RTÉ Radio 1’s Morning Ireland will be live from London as the UK goes to the polls on Thursday morning, co-presented by Cathal MacCoille. As the results and trends begin to emerge from the overnight count, Morning Ireland will present a special extended programme on RTÉ Radio 1 from 6.00am on Friday morning, with presenters Cathal MacCoille, Audrey Carville and Keelin Shanley live from London, Belfast and Dublin studios. RTÉ News Now will also simulcast the specially extended Morning Ireland programme from 6.00am.
RTÉ Radio’s 1 coverage will continue through the day as Fergal Keane reports from the UK on Today With Sean O’Rourke (from 10.00am) and Drivetime (from 4:30pm) regarding all that is unfolding on Brexit.
RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta’s Political Editor Mícheál Ó Leidhin will be reporting from London throughout the day on Thursday and Friday, starting with Adhmhaidin at 8am, on the referendum and the results, the implications for Ireland and for Northern Ireland, and the long term implications for the EU.
RTÉ’s Six One News will be co-presented live from Westminster by Bryan Dobson on Thursday and Friday, with the latest reaction on Brexit and key interviews along with the main national and international news stories of the day.
RTÉ One’s Prime Time will be on air at 10.00pm on Thursday as the polls close and will go live to London for reports on what the latest indications will be and possible exit polls revealed.
RTÉ One will broadcast a special RTÉ News television bulletin at 9.00am on Friday morning, featuring updates on count results.
Nuacht RTÉ will have dedicated reporters in London, Edinburgh and Belfast for results and reaction from accross the UK on their 5.00pm, 5.40pm and 7.00pm bulletins.
The @rtenews twitter account, currently the largest single news twitter account in the country with over 430,000 followers, will be live tweeting the results and updates while subscribers will also be kept up to date with key moments via the push notifications on the RTÉ News Now app. Updates will also run on @rteradio1 @rternag and @rte
