I’ve Got Your Back

A family quiz show, RTÉ 2

Thursday, 26th May, 5pm

Hosted by Simon Delaney

“I’ve Got Your Back”, a quiz show where you don’t need to know anything – other than how much your friends and family know!

Each week, young contestants (aged 10-12) will be trying to climb up 8 prize levels on the brand new quiz show “I’ve Got Your Back”.

At each level is a prize, and the higher they go, the better the prize on offer.

At each level, the contestant will get a choice of topics. Once a topic is selected, a question will be asked. Straight forward, right? Well, not quite….

Each contestant will have 4 team mates with them, team mates that they cannot see or talk to. They are friends and family members. And the contestant must decide which of the team mates will answer each question.

So knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the team mates is of critical importance.

As the questions are asked, the audience can see Dad praying he won’t be picked to answer a question on ballet. But will the contestant pick his sister, who is looking very sure of himself?

At any stage they can leave with the prize they have, or they can hand it back and play for something better. But if a team mate gets a question wrong, the contestant leaves empty handed.

Each week 2 contestants will try to climb the prize ladder with the help of their friends and families.

In the seventh show of the series 12 year old Noah Scolard from Sandymount in Dublin will be hoping to leave the show with the top prize.

Noah goes to Star Of The Sea BNS in Sandymount and is in 6th class. He loves singing, dancing and playing the piano. He even has his own Youtube channel where you can see him do all of those! He is currently preparing for his Grade 8 Royal Irish Academy of Music piano exam.

With him on the show is his team:

His dad Ciarán, who reckons he can handle any general knowledge questions and questions on maths.

His friend, Aaron van den Akker. Aaron will be hoping to field any sport questions that come his way. He’s an enthusiastic rugby player, Gaelic footballer and hurler, and has recently taken up boxing. His trainer is none other than Olympic gold medallist Michael Carruth.

Also joining Noah is his friend JP Tiernan. JP is 12 years old and his strong subjects are sport, maths and books. He also plays Gaelic football and is a member of Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club in Dublin.

The fourth member of the team is JP’s mum, Clodagh. She is strong on history and loves historical dramas. She’s still trying to come to terms with the ending of Downton Abbey!

10 year old Lilia Smyth from Bishopstown, Co. Cork will also be hoping to walk away with a top prize. Lilia goes to Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh, Cailíní in Bishopstown. Lilia is a bit of a rocker, and her favourite band is ACDC. She also enjoys singing, gymnastics and having a nose around on YouTube. Maybe she’s even spotted Noah’s channel?

With her on stage will be her team:

Her dad Darren. He works as the head of retail at Shannon Airport. So maybe he’d have a good knowledge of world cities and geography is any of those questions come up.

Also with her is mum, Jennifer. She works of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind and is heavily involved in all of their major campaigns and events.

Also on her team is her 13 year old cousin Ava Hickey. She is big into musicals and has performed in “Annie”, “The Witches” and most recently “Teens And Thespians” in the Cork Arts Theatre. Any questions on drama and theatre would suit her down to the ground.

Finally, on her team is another cousin, Stephen Hickey, aged 11. He’s soccer mad and plays for Wilton Utd. In the Cork School Boy’s League. He supports Liverpool and has even been to Anfield.

Can either team make it to the top of the prize ladder?

“I’ve Got Your Back”, Thursday, 26th May at 5pm on RTÉ2.
