I’ve Got Your Back, A family quiz show, RTÉ2, Thursday, 28th April, 5pm

Hosted by Simon Delaney

“I’ve Got Your Back”, a quiz show where you don’t need to know anything – other than how much your friends and family know!

Each week, young contestants (aged 10-12) will be trying to climb up 8 prize levels on the brand new quiz show “I’ve Got Your Back”.

At each level is a prize, and the higher they go, the better the prize on offer.

At each level, the contestant will get a choice of topics. Once a topic is selected, a question will be asked. Straight forward, right? Well, not quite….

Each contestant will have 4 team mates with them, team mates that they cannot see or talk to. They are friends and family members. And the contestant must decide which of the team mates will answer each question.

So knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the team mates is of critical importance.

As the questions are asked, the audience can see Dad praying he won’t be picked to answer a question on ballet. But will the contestant pick his sister, who is looking very sure of himself?

At any stage they can leave with the prize they have, or they can hand it back and play for something better. But if a team mate gets a question wrong, the contestant leaves empty handed.

Each week 2 contestants will try to climb the prize ladder with the help of their friends and families.

In the fourth show of the series 11 year old Tadhg O’Neill from Clonakilty, Co. Cork will be hoping to win big.

Tadhg has one younger sister and four older brothers. He goes to Knockskeagh National School in Clonakilty and is sport mad. He plays Gaelic football and hurling with Pedlars Cross / Ballinascarthy GAA club, soccer with Lyre Rovers, is a member of the South Coast Table Tennis Club and has recently started coastal rowing with Ring Rowing Club.

Joining him on the show is his team:

His mum, Bernice, when not busy with the 6 children, works part time for a local auctioneering firm.

His sister, Deirdre, aged 10. Deirdre is the youngest of the family and is the only girl out of the six children. She loves One Direction and likes to do gymnastics.

Tadhg’s cousin, Orla O’Flynn, who is 20 years old. Orla is in 2nd year in Cork IT, studying a Bachelor of Business in Recreation & Leisure Management. She plays the fiddle and is a World Champion Team-Dancer in Irish dancing, winning the World title in Glasgow (2006).

The fourth member on the team is his aunt, Bríd O’Mahony. Bríd is a community physio and also very sporty. She runs, cycles and swims, and (surprise, surprise) races in triathlons.

Hopefully, they’ll be returning to Cork with the top prize!

Also hoping to clamber up the prize ladder in the show is 10 year old Caríosa Sweeney from Termonfeckin, Co. Louth. Caríosa goes to Scoil Náisiúnta Muire gan Smál, in Cartown and loves acting and drama. She attends workshops in drama and every Summer they put on a play that is co-written by the teacher and the students.

Hoping to give her a boost up the prize ladder is her team:

Her dad, Kevin, who works as an editor in The Irish Times and is a self-confessed film buff. He’s even written a few books, including a couple of Henry Fonda and James Mason.

Her mum, Mary. Mary is an avid reader, so much so, that she does book reviews for The Irish Times. She has recently taken up DIY lessons and now all she wants for her birthday and Christmas are drill bits!

Caríosa’s older brother Cathal, aged 19. Cathal is studying political science and history in Trinity, so he might come in handy on a quiz! He trains in Kung Fu and is a member of the University Fencing Club.

Last but not least is Caríosa’s older sister Niamh. She is sitting her Junior Cert this year. She also practices Kung Fu and loves debating.

Can either team make it to the top of the prize ladder?
