Pixie’s Sex Clinic

Tuesday April 19th

Everybody is having sex, wants to have sex or wants to learn about sex – so why does nobody talk about it? Well, not anymore! Dr Pixie McKenna is on a mission to get Ireland in the know about ‘nooky’ and invites young people into her clinic to have a frank discussion about the unspeakable deed: who does it, where, how…and all the bits in between. This is the ultimate sex talk – laid bare.

Pixie’s Sex Clinic is the first Irish TV series dedicated to education in sex, sexual health and behaviour – all with a healthy dose of tongue in cheek and playful winks! With a team of experts in medicine, psychology and sexual well-being, Pixie creates a comfortable space for young people to talk openly, in their own language about physical and emotional sexual worries. No question is too stupid or embarrassing; no subject is off limits. In this three part series, each programme is strongly defined by common strands –fun and informative workshops, a sex booth to air views, a dedicated ‘Biology Lab’ to educate our teenage viewers, a comedy night with young talented comedians and a hilarious sex quiz that pits a child against his parent to see who knows more. Pixie’s Sex Clinic hits all those sensitive spots: from defining your sexuality and gender identity to STIs and Contraception, Consent, Sex and Technology, and Sex Toys! Pixie’s Sex Clinic is exciting and visually energetic, with a young, fresh feel and appeal.

Episode 1 – STIs, Contraception, and Consent

In this first episode, Pixie’s Sex Clinic explores the mistakes, misconceptions and taboos that 18-25 year olds are faced with when it comes to their sex lives – from the type of sex they’re having, to contraception choices and sexually transmitted infections.  Through a series of workshops, Pixie meets an engaging mix of guys and girls from around the country, who play an eye opening game of STI Bingo, find out how to take an STI test, and also tackle the tricky subject of consent.  In our school biology lab sessions, we see a group of 16 and 17 year olds from Trinity Comprehensive, Ballymun, get stuck in to busting some myths when it comes to contraception and STIs. We go to a comedy night where some of Ireland’s most talented up and coming comedians tell us their sex stories.  And not forgetting our hilarious sex confession booth, which has travelled the length and breadth of the country, getting to the heart of the Irish sexual psyche!
