RTÉ One to air Prison in Peru: Michaella’s First Interview tomorrow night

Two and half years since her arrest at Lima airport for possession of almost €2 million worth of smuggled cocaine, Michaella McCollum has been released from prison. Michaella made international headlines when she was arrested alongside Scottish national, Melissa Reid, at Lima airport with 11 kilos of cocaine hidden in their luggage.

Having been originally imprisoned for six years and 8 months, Michaella’s solicitors have secured her release.

The 23-year-old was holidaying in Ibiza in 2013 when she disappeared before turning up a week and a half later in Lima airport where she was arrested.

On Sunday, April 3rd, RTÉ One will air an exclusive documentary featuring the first interview with the newly-released Michaella.  For the first time she will get to explain what happened from her perspective charting her decision to become a drug mule, her arrest, her imprisonment and recent release.

Saturday 2 April
