RTÉjr – Monday 14th-Friday 18th March on RTÉ2 and RTÉjr

It’s an exciting start to Seachtain na Gaeilge on RTÉjr, with a brand-new series as Gaeilge of Lily’s Driftwood Bay. Lifeboat Luke will be undertaking his high-seas adventures in Irish, along with Irish versions of Inis Spraoi and Nelly & Nora.  A new bilingual series of Twigín starts on March 14, and Muc sets off on his own adventures as Gaeilge (Eachtraí le Muc) .

Twigín is embracing the Irish language for Seachtain na Gaeilge. Each episode is bilingual with some items entirely in Irish. On Monday 14th March, Emma and Seámus are learning about all the different things that fly in the sky and they head off on an adventure on their magic carpet. On Tuesday everyone is dancing. The fairies visit some Twigíní to learn how to do Irish dancing. Clara and Séamus sing their brilliant song ‘Gach Duine ag Spraoi’ while John and Bláithín give a rousing rendition of ‘An Poc ar Buile’. Wednesday 16th is all about Irish myths and legends and includes a special yoga story about Cúchulainn, told by Ciarán.

Thursday 17th is the main event – St. Patrick’s Day! – and everyone is in the mood for celebrating, singing and playing games.  Clara visits a school to learn the song ‘Peigín Leitir Móir’. John dresses up as St. Patrick and fills us in on some amazing St. Patrick facts. For example, did you know his real name was Maewyn Succat?

On Friday 18th, we learn how to say ‘hello’ in Irish and also the names for all our body parts. And John and Bláithín tell us a funny story about a boy with green hair.

Séamus and Clara’s song ‘Gach Duine ag Spraoi’ will be played throughout the RTÉjr schedule for SnaG.

Full Irish language episodes of the series featuring Twigín’s cute piggy friend, Eachtraí le Muc, will be broadcast on RTÉjr throughout Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Seachtain na Gaeilge episodes of Reuben and Bó’s Café Theatre will be bilingual with a special episode for St. Patrick’s Day.
