OPERATION TRANSFORMATION GETS READY TO GO YEAR-ROUND

Tens of thousands of people have been following the Operation Transformation plan this year with almost half a million people regularly tuning in to watch as our leaders made the life enhancing journey toward health and fitness.

And this year we’re sticking with them.

Operation Transformation is going year-round for 2016 with a multi-platform approach to helping people keep motivated on their journey to well-being.

For the next 12 months there will be regular updates on our leaders’ progress, new seasonal recipes and exercise plans, and, most importantly, we will be keeping up contact with all the communities and groups who have been following the Operation Transformation plan since the start of the year.

You’ll find Operation Transformation at major national events, parkruns nationwide, and on RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ 2FM. Our Facebook and social media accounts will be updated with interesting and engaging content, linking in with communities and the activities of our groups. We’ll also be tracking the country’s progress in ditching the collective spare tyre for the Million Pound Challenge*

Glen Killane, Managing Director, RTÉ Television said: Operation Transformation has gone from strength to strength this year and it continues to be an example of how RTÉ, through a public service initiative that utilises every part of the organisation, can have a real, positive impact on Irish people’s lives. I am delighted that this year RTÉ is continuing to stand by the tens of thousands of people who follow the Operation Transformation plan by connecting with them through radio, online and social and ensuring that they remain motivated throughout the year. Hopefully, it will lead to a fitter, healthier nation in 2016 and beyond”.

Note To Editors:

*Million Pound Challenge – The Million Pound Challenge is inspired by the city of Oklahoma where Mayor Mick Cornett put it up to his citizens to collectively lose one million pounds. It took the city four years but Operation Transformation is challenging the nation to do that in 12 months.
