As Ireland kicked off their RBS 6 Nations defence at home against Wales, an average of 836,100, a share of 60% of the available audience, tuned into the game on RTÉ2 peaking at 922,000 as the game reached its thrilling climax. Yesterday’s game was the number one programme for 15-to-34-year-olds this year to date.

The drama continued on Fair City last night when an average of 521,000 viewers tuned in to see Ama uncover the shocking truth about Heather. Things come to a head this week as Heather’s lies continue to unravel, sending shockwaves through Carrigstown.

Another ratings winner on RTÉ One was the return of Room To Improve.  An average audience of 584,800 tuned in to watch the brand new series as architect  Dermot Bannon came under pressure to successfully split one house into two homes for three headstrong teachers in Tipperary.  Next week Dermot travels to Drogheda, where he attempts an architectural flight of fancy at the 1930s home of airline pilot Ian and his girlfriend Claire.

The Blind Auditions on this year’s Voice of Ireland continued on RTÉ One yesterday with an average of 526,700 viewers tuning in as the coaches on the spinning red chairs Una Foden, Kian Egan, Bressie and Rachel Stevens decide who will be on their teams. This year’s Battles begin on Sunday 22 February on RTÉ One.
