The highly-anticipated new series of The X-Files will debut on RTÉ2 on Tuesday 26 January.
Irish viewers can watch original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their iconic roles as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully on RTÉ2 just two days after the first episode airs in the United States.
It has been over thirteen years since the original series of The X-Files wrapped and the next mind-bending chapter in the story will begin with a two night event. Episode one “My Struggle” will broadcast on Tuesday 26 January and episode two “Founder’s Mutation” will air the following evening, Wednesday 27 January.
RTÉ2 Channel Controller, Bill Malone said: “RTÉ2 is delighted to be showing the new series of the phenomenon that is The X-Files. It’s been a long wait for fans of Mulder and Scully and the first episode on 26 January will be appointment viewing.”
This Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon returns with six new episodes in total, including a mixture of stand-alone episodes and those that further the show’s mythology.
Mitch Pileggi also resumes his role as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner, Mulder and Scully’s boss, who walks a fine line between loyalty to these investigators and accountability to his superiors.
