Life Matters explores the ethics of how we live today.
The programme looks at topics like immigration, human fertility, and assisted suicide. We ask, where do we stand on life’s big issues, and what kind of society do we want to build for the future?
Over 13 episodes we will, among other things, explore the ethics of having more than one sexual partner at the same time, given that many believe monogamy is not a viable option for many people over the course of a lifetime. We will investigate the true ethics of protest, given that research indicates that most forms of protest are ultimately motivated by self interest. We will ask whether freedom of speech and religious freedom are ethically justified in all places, at all times, or whether they are simply just another way to organize society. We will also examine the nature of forgiveness and, in light of so many atrocities being perpetrated around the world, we ask if true forgiveness is ever really possible?
