WEDNESDAY 29TH OCTOBER

Nationwide meet some people who love collecting items of interest to them.

Most people collect something, whether it’s photographs from holidays, souvenirs of trips, comic books or toys.  Some collections are more unusual than others and reporter Maria Mullarkey meets a lady in Co. Cork to see her Coca Cola collection.

Also in the programme, reporter Helen McInerney visits the Folk and Heritage Museum in Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny, where thousands of items from previous centuries are on on display.

FRIDAY 31ST OCTOBER

It’s a spooktacular Nationwide on Friday as the night of Halloween begins. The programme visits Virginia in Co. Cavan where the Pumpkin Festival is in full swing.  We enter one of Ireland’s most haunted houses in Wexford and get spooked in the House of Horrors in Waterford.

The Virginia Pumpkin Festival is an annual festival held in the town of Virginia in Co. Cavan.  Mary Kennedy visits the town and finds out about the many different events taking place at the Festival.

Loftus Hall on the Hook Peninsula in Co. Wexford is considered to be one of Ireland’s most haunted houses. Legend has it that hundreds of years ago a daughter of the house fell in love with a dark stranger and it’s said that the dark lover was none other than the Devil himself.   Thousands of visitors visit Loftus Hall every year and reporter Helen McInerney goes along to experience some of the ghostly happenings.

Nationwide also visits Co. Waterford where all sorts of ghosts, ghouls and goblins are making an appearance at the House of Horrors.  Hundreds of children and their parents have already been spooked by a fabulous collection of Halloween Horrors, with all profits going to a very deserving charity.  Reporter Damien Tiernan finds out more.
