Love/Hate Series 5 Episode 3 Synopsis
The day of the first drugs shipment under the deal with Terence May approaches, and Nidge promotes loyal soldier Elmo to be in charge of it – he will go “hands on”. Elmo liaises with Pauley to arrange collection of the drugs which will be shipped in a consignment of garden gnomes. The importation goes smoothly and Elmo hides the drugs at a remote city stable.
Siobhan meanwhile is finding it her double life more and more difficult to cope with. She is sleeping with Pauley and relaying pillow talk information back to Moynihan, but at the same time her new relationship is offering an excitement that she has not experienced for a long time. She embarks on a drug-fuelled evening of excess with her lover. She laughs at Moynihan’s concerned accusation that she is falling in love with Pauley; Moynihan reminds her that if Pauley learned the truth he would have her killed in an instant.
Ado has a new best friend – truck driver Scotty with whom he plays darts down the pub. Unbeknownst to Ado, his girlfriend Nadine is having an affair with Scotty. But Ado has other problems: Nidge is pressuring him to recruit his brother Pottsie – still serving a sentence in prison – to kill Fran inside. The attempt is made and in a brutal knife fight Pottsie loses his eye; Fran too is injured and hospitalised. In the meantime Fran too has not been idle, and has tasked his faithful sidekick Dean with sourcing a hit man to kill Nidge. Elmo and the crew intervene and Dean is kidnapped and brought to the stables where Nidge threatens to kill him. Left with no choice, Dean switches allegiance to Nidge and buys his life with a suggestion of another way to kill Fran – he tells Nidge the story of how Fran dug up the coffin of Noely Hughes’ late mother and pissed on the body. Nidge realises he has another potential ally inside…
