Design Doctors, is back for a second series with a new dynamic design duo, Aoife Rhattigan and Garry Cohn.

The series gives us a sneak peak into the world of interior design and allows us to see just how the designers create such unique concepts, execute them meticulously, all while giving confidence and inspiration to six desperate homeowners.

Aoife and Garry believe that our home interiors can have a massive impact on the way we live. From cramped or cluttered spaces, to beige rooms with no individuality, good design and a clever use of colour can inject a much needed dose of personality into our homes.

Celebrated internationally for their eye-popping interiors, from high-end homes and luxury hotels to fashion forward retail design these designers push the boundaries to create unique, bold and distinctive designs. Now faced with much smaller budgets, the designers have to get creative to ensure the biggest bang for the homeowners buck.

Across the series they will visit inspirational spaces and create jaw-dropping designs. Packed with practical tips, the designers will teach homeowners to embrace new design concepts, which will create space, maximize light and add some imagination into their homes, without breaking the bank.

The series features six homeowners from; Offaly, Thurles, Gorey and in Dublin; Foxrock, Tempelogue and Stoneybatter. The budgets range from 10k – 60k.

EPISODE 1 of 6 – Samantha and Brendan Horan

Budget:                     €13,000

Location:                  Gorey, Wexford

Main themes:          Unfinished spaces, putting your stamp on a home, blending two styles to create a look both husband and wife are happy with.

Rooms:                      The hall, office and the family bathroom

Sam’s home was built by her husband Brendan 5 years ago, with her moving in a year after the build. Brendan had already finished most of the décor and a lot of it wouldn’t have been Sam’s first choice. For this reason she has hit a wall and doesn’t know how to continue the style of the house throughout.  Working from home as a beautician, Sam is ever aware of the unfinished home and says the unfinished spaces are starting to stress her out.

With two very different aesthetics, Brendan liking more masculine pieces like leather armchairs, and Samantha having a passion for pastels, the designers need to work hard to create a look that both Samantha and Brendan are happy with.

With dramatic high ceilings, the hall and office are crying out for a cozy finish, but with Samantha’s fear of dark colours, the designers have their work cut out to gain her trust.
