All those Names for the Mysteries of Love.
Francis Harvey is known in Ireland and beyond to those who practice the craft of poetry as a gifted lyric poet but is virtually unknown to the wider reading public. Shy, reticent and disinclined to give public readings, Harvey’s life in poetry has been lived below the critical radar, despite the extraordinary quality and quantity of his published work, Born in Enniskillen in 1925, a child of two generations of mixed marriages, he has lived his adult life in Donegal, working as a bank official and spending his free time wandering the local landscape and honing his craft. Film and radio documentary maker Éamon Little first encountered the poet while recording a rare reading by Francis Harvey at the Cúirt International Festival of Literature in 2005 and in 2011 he paid the first of many visits to the poet in his Donegal home. This intimate exploration of Harvey’s life and work includes contributions by Moya Cannon, Michael Coady, Tom French and Paula Meehan.
