Marty Whelan and a lucky listener are off to the Verona Opera Festival for this year’s festival and Franco Zeffirelli’s production of Carmen.
He’ll be meeting the stars, exploring the charms of Verona and going behind the scenes at the atmospheric amphitheatre of the open air Arena di Verona a place Marty describes as “the closest thing to musical heaven on Earth”. We’ll also be discovering the magic of Venice; it’s glimmering canals and dusty alleyways, home to Vivaldi – the Red Priest.
