Programme 1 – The Abbey Style (Repeat)
The first of four features looking at different acting styles and traditions and personalities associated with them in Ireland. In Programme 1, international film actor and founder member of Field Day Theatre Company, Stephen Rea explores the ‘Abbey Style’ of acting in the early part of the 20th century. Stephen links the style to the political events of the time. He speaks to the actor Sinéad Cusack, former artistic director of the Abbey, the late Tomás Mac Anna, and the late Abbey actor T P McKenna.
With specially commissioned music composed by Conor Linehan.
