The six cooks are responsible for two starters, two mains and two desserts. They are cooking for 24 invited guests, who all understand the philosophy of The House. Executive Chef Martijn expects the highest standards and with just three hours of prep – they will be stretched to the limit.
This is as tough as on the job training gets – they will make no allowances for inexperience in this kitchen. Who will impress Martijn, Nick and Dylan the most?
Episode 14: Irish Sea. TX: 16 April 2014 – 8.30pm
This is MasterChef Ireland – the Quarter final. It’s been a tough journey in the kitchen – and now only Charlie, Niamh, Mark, Hugh, Diana and Edel remain.
After the rigors of last night’s one Michelin starred lunch service in the House restaurant in the Cliff House Hotel the six quarter finalists are back to face Nick and Dylan – who will choose which of them goes through to next week’s semi-final.
Fish and seafood are one of the most abundant foods available to a small island nation. Their challenge today, is to give Nick and Dylan a fine dining dish that celebrates the wonderful ingredients of the Irish Sea.
Hugh handled the pressure best in the House lunch service. For Nick and Dylan, he produced the dish of the day. His advantage is that he gets first pick of the pantry ahead of the other five contestants. As Hugh chooses his ingredients, the others must stand and watch him. They all have two hours to create a dish.
Nick and Dylan are looking for something really special today. This dish has got to show them why they deserve a coveted semi-final place.
