The Story of Jazz Part 4: Revolution!

To the discomfort of the majority of jazz enthusiasts, many younger musicians, disaffected by the prevalence of formulaic swing music, began to explore alternatives in the late 1940’s. The result, nicknamed “Bebop”, became the start-point for a re-energised music, and is the subject of this month’s Story of Jazz.
