A WORLD OF SONG

Ailish Tynan Image Name: Ailish Tynan

Song is the art that touches every aspect of our lives. In A World of Song this week, Liz Nolan talks to Irish soprano Ailish Tynan who is a rare artist: equally acclaimed as an opera star, and as a leading exponent of the art song, or lied. From large-scale productions to the intimacy of the recital hall, Ailish is renowned, not just for vocal beauty and skill, but as interpreter of word and melody in the works of the great song composers.

Ailish Tynan trained at Trinity College, the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She was a Vilar Young Artist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, a BBC New Generation Artist and won the Rosenblatt Recital Prize at the 2003 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition.
